Nearly one-third of all new cars are rented for two or three years at a time and, in many cases, paid monthly, one can conclude that U.S. motorists are becoming more frequent To upgrade the car phone.
But there is still a large group of car and truck owners who like it – and actually take pride in – putting their driver on the ground, the second owner being a scrap yard. Unless a car is a real lemon, keeping an old car is almost always cheaper than a new car. Now that car loan terms have been extended for seven years or even eight years, the accepted standard has been largely improved because of the need to choose a payment that will still make a spectacular car model after the owners finalize the model .
To help shoppers determine which cars will be at least historically at this distance, auto data and research firm iSeeCars.com in Boston, Mass., Conducted 650,000 used car deals during 2017 and found the 15 models to be at least 1.6 Times more likely to be retained by the original owner for 15 years or more. According to IHS Markit’s research, the average length of new car ownership in the United States is 79.3 months, or nearly seven years.
Of the 15 models, all are imported, with nine from Toyota, including the Highlander crossover SUV, with 18.3% of owners and more than 15 years old. Honda occupies two locations, Nissan, Subaru and the general public placed a car. We have included in the accompanying slide shows a full list of long-haul porters in the industry.
Based on current ownership trends in the automotive business, only four out of the 15 that have long-held extreme ownership are passenger cars, with the rest being pickups, SUVs and minivans. Curiously, only three cars on the list, the Toyota Camry, the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V crossover SUV, are among the best-selling in the industry. By brand, Toyota’s share of former owners was 11.6%, followed by Subaru (9.9%) and Honda (9.7%). The industry average for all brands and models is 6.8%.
Absent are the three most popular rides in the United States, the Ford F-150, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ram 1500 full-size pick-up truck, though this may not necessarily be a mistrust of truck owners. Ly said: “Trucks are often used as heavy duty vehicles and are more driving than a typical passenger car.” So they may need to be replaced sooner. “In addition, the lack of premium European luxury models on the list can be largely attributed to the high percentage of luxury cars that are traditionally leased (at least 50%), not the direct purchase.
Details: iSeeCars.com analyzes 650,000 used cars from 1981 to 2002 and is sold between January and November 2017. For each vehicle type, the original owner sells a number of vehicles sold as a percentage of the total number of vehicles. The owner buys a new car for the “original owner.” The model is then sorted by the original owner percentage. The analysis excludes those models that sold less than 100 cars or were no longer produced in 2017 models.
